Generation Gains

Generation Gains

Increasing physical activity and reducing social isolation among over 65s are the objectives at the heart of the Aston Villa Foundation’s Generation Gains programme.

Our specialist staff run weekly sessions at locations across Birmingham with the aim of keeping the elderly moving in a safe and friendly environment.

Sessions are delivered within local community settings with three main focuses: exercise, reminiscence and social interaction.

Generation Gains (2)

Exercise Sessions

A programme aimed at improving participants’ core stability to reduce the risk of slips and falls. Activities including chair-based exercises, circuit sessions, BOCCIA, indoor bowls and much more. Activities will be tailored to participants’ needs.

Reminiscence sessions

These are activities designed to delay the onset of dementia through reminiscence, utilising prompts to engage conversation from a particular era, as well as being supported by local historians to engage with participants.

This offers a chance to relax and talk to new people over a tea and coffee.Activities are delivered in various venues across Birmingham. Below is a complete list of venues where Generation Gains sessions take place:
